The Pad Manager (PM)
The Pad Manager is the person who assigns a group of pads and oversees
the launch pad area.
- The primary responsibility of the PM is to assign pads to flyers.
This involves checking the Launch Lug size and assigning accordingly.
- Make sure the correct flight card has been filled out correctly,
and that the Range Safety Officer (RSO) has signed off the flight card.
- Help flyers identify their assigned pad.
- Assisting flyers to get their rocket on the pad (only if not busy).
- Passing the flight cards for a bank of pads to the LCO2 when she
asks.
- Keep people from entering the range when the range is closed.
- Away Pad Manager (L2 or above required) is there
at bigger launches to improve the range safety of the back row and
to provide help, if needed. This person observes that all of the
range rules
are
being followed. This person has the authority to shutdown ALL
range operations until the area is deemed safe. Disputes will be settled
by ROC BOD members. The Away Pad Manager is in radio contact with
the LCO at all times.
