An Even Greater Friend...

The measure of a man is not what he leaves behind in material wealth. The true treasure belongs in the memories of his friends, family, and associates. Greg Lawson was indeed a man that has left us all richer than we would have been without him. For what Greg left to us were treasures that simply cannot be bought. Greg, we love you, as a brother, as a family man, as Grandpa, as son, as husband. And as friends. - Pat Gordzelik

Greg was the first person at our first rocket launch, LDRS 20, that my family and I talked to. He encouraged us to come out and fly rockets, we have been flying ever since and it has changed our lives. We will always think of Greg when we fly rockets. - The Harns family

"When you see a shooting start whiz by, it's Greg Lawson sending a smile to all the rocketeers in the world" - Colin Rowe and Family (UK)

Peace be with you Greg. Peace to his Family and all my ROC brothers. - David Schat

Tonight I figured I'd put together a bit of a look of apcp in an inferno for all to study and just enjoy.... This group of chemicals is what binds most of us together, and it is intriguing. I will dedicate this short look of the core of our hobby to Greg. It is 9.2 megs, but beautiful in an odd way. - Chuck Rudy

I only knew Greg Lawson from the e-mail messages and phone calls we exchanged during his illness. It is a truly rare occurrence to find a person like Greg who lead by example, displaying courage and optimism in spite of the staggering medical obstacles facing both him and his family. I can only hope to find the same inner strength and positive outlook that Greg displayed, should I face a similar circumstance.

I can not think of a higher or more fitting tribute to Greg, than to remember him as a fine person he was. Greg has and will continue to shape our lives in many ways. When Greg was healthy it was his genuine warmth, he inspired us as he faced and fought his illness, and in our memories as we reflect on person who is no longer physically with us, but set an example that if we follow, we will in turn become a better person for. - John Lyngdal

Yesterday (November 11) was a real day of mixed emotions for me, since I was finally to do my long-awaited Level 3 cert. But the guy who got me started along the path, Greg Lawson, wasn't able to be there. Still, I was thinking of him as my WAC ascended into the sky, since he was the one who inspired and encouraged me to do it in the first place. The rocket drifted far on the wind, and it was a few hours before I finally returned it to the range head. When I did, I learned the news of Greg's passing. It was a sad moment, but shortly after I looked up and saw the first rainbow I've seen over Lucerne Dry Lake. I'd like to think it was Greg smiling down on us and telling us the range and sky are clear. Fly high, buddy! - Greg Lyzenga
