ROC E-mail Lists ROC sponsors TWO e-mail lists. One is for announcements, and one is for general "ROC chat". Please note that as of April 16, 2006 we have changed the list management software and that these instructions and links have changed! Thanks to Dave McCue and rocketeers.com for hosting these lists! ROC-Announce The ROC-announce list is used for general announcements (such as launch cancellations due to Lucerne weather conditions) and news. There are typically one or two messages sent to this list by the ROC Board per month. To subscribe to ROC-announce, please follow the instructions below. Subscribe to ROC-Announce Visit the following web site: Enter your email address and name (please DO enter your name so we know you are a real person!) and click "Subscribe". A confirmation email will be mailed to you - follow the instructions in that email, and you will be subscribed. Useful ROC-Announce links:
ROC-Chat The ROC-chat list is used for general discussion of rocket construction and systems, as well as topics related to the hobby (e.g., space exploration). The ROC-chat list is known for being a great resource for both beginners and experienced flyers. There are typically anywhere from 1 to 5 messages sent to this list per day, though at times (like before a launch) there can be 10 to 20. To subscribe to ROC-chat, please follow the instructions below. Subscribe to ROC-Chat Visit the following web site: Enter your email address and name (please DO enter your name so we know you are a real person!) and click "Subscribe". A confirmation email will be mailed to you - follow the instructions in that email, which will generate a subscription request to the List manager. Please note that joining this list requires approval of the (real, live, more-or-less human) List manager (we're trying to avoid SPAM; i.e., junk e-mail); please allow a day or two for a response! (The list manager is sometimes away from his email for a day or two.) Useful ROC-Chat links:
When your request to join has been approved, you may post messages to the list and take part in discussions. Please note that you must post using the email address from which you subscribed. For example, you cannot sign up from your home address and then post from a different work address, unless you sign up both. Any posts from non-list-members are automatically discarded to protect us from junk email (spam). While we are on the subject, here is a great SPAM information web site: http://www.spamprimer.com/ Helpful Hints If you do not have access to your e-mail, you can still read messages via the e-mail server web site. Just click on the "Read Online" button above after you have signed up for the list. If you don't want to receive that many messages, just choose the "daily digest" option when you subscribe. If you are already subscribed, just click on the "Change Your Settings" link above and select "On" for the "Set Digest Mode" option. Be sure to click the "Submit My Changes" button at the bottom of the page. Or, if you would prefer to read messages online and only post from your email address, just click on the "Change Your Settings" link above and select "Disabled" for the "Mail delivery" option. Be sure to click the "Submit My Changes" button at the bottom of the page. If you have two email addresses (e.g., work and home) and want to be able to post to roc-chat from either email address - but only receive email to one address - just click on the "Change Your Settings" link above, enter the email address you do NOT want to receive emails at, and select "Disabled" for the "Mail delivery" option. Be sure to click the "Submit My Changes" button at the bottom of the page. |
